OpenAD is a Riga-based architecture and design studio with work experience in Latvia, Germany, Russia and elsewhere. Our team combines technical skills and know-how with a remarkable knack for storytelling and inexhaustible creativity. Where some see despair, we see potential.
The OpenAD architecture portfolio includes single-family homes, apartment buildings and commercial properties such as offices, restaurants and hotels. Thanks to our open-mindedness we’ve landed opportunities like transforming a former Soviet sanatorium into the Edinburgh Apartments & Lofts complex. We’ve also given new life to a number of historical factory buildings in Riga like VEF and Grīziņdārzs. As architects we aspire to preserve history for future generations but we’re not afraid to innovate while applying the principles of adaptive reuse.
At OpenAD we closely monitor social, political and economic trends to ensure our work is original yet relevant and sustainable. See Riga’s House of the Flying Trees, for example, where we added special planter boxes to the facade as a way to bring more nature into the city.
From compact coastal homes to major investment properties, at OpenAD we’re happy to work with projects of all scales. We strive to deliver tailored solutions to every client. See, for example, the two neighbouring restaurants KOYA and Aqua Luna. Though literally next door to each other, we made sure each has its own individual style and atmosphere. Our skill in combining materials, textures and colours has landed us awards.
OpenAD promises to be a reliable partner for your next architectural endeavour. We look forward to hearing from you.
