While conjuring the concept for Snatch, we explored all sides of the Italian culture including the audacious, mischievous, even naughty slant. While classic elements like the column, atlas and marble have a key presence in the interior, we’ve interpreted them in today’s design language and mixed them together with neon, graffiti and leopard print. Is the result the epitome of taste or borderline vulgarity? Depends who you ask! We respect and admire the Italians’ daring spirit and ability to get away with what other nations would consider controversial.

Snatch restaurant brings a new style of Italian dining experience to Riga which has its share of more traditional trattorias and pizzerias.

A light and spacious two story apartment in Jurmala with a sense of gentle warmth and cosyness. A serene living space, perfected with an utmost care, where the color, texture and materials play in full diversity. Materials of exquisite quality, elegant, functional design objects, textile and lighting fixtures fill the interior, refining the ambience of the space up to the slightest detail.

The interior design of the children’s rooms has been developed with ingenuity, creating an individual world for every sibling. These spaces have been created to be multifunctional and interactive, playing with the scale, light and tactile variety to evoke imagination and creative thinking.

All these qualities materialize in an emotionally intelligent interior for a harmonically saturated life.

The concept for The Catch Berlin is based on the contrast of hand crafted wooden details, made in the ancient Japanese technique –shou sugi ban – merged together with colourful glass and epoxy design pieces, inspired by Japanese traditions and today’s exaggerated Tokyo sea of neon.

Each wooden plank is different and crafted by experienced masters practicing wabi-sabi (a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection). Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, austerity, modesty, intimacy and an appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes. The Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi includes kintsugi, also known as kintsukuroi (golden repair) – the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery – treating breakage and repair as part of the history of an object.

The boat-shaped light is an example of combining different centuries in one piece. We took inspiration from the wasen – a traditional Japanese boat. Wa means “traditional Japanese thing”, while sen is one of the suffixes meaning boat or ship. The size and silhouette of the feature light reflect the exact prototype of a traditional Japanese fishing boat.

Of course, one can’t forget modern-day Japan in the form of manga-style bright colours and sexuality.

As a company, Trentini doesn’t offer ready-made concepts. The team involves the client in creating bespoke solutions. It was therefore important to design the new showroom as a space to let the mind roam free, inspire experiments, innovation and collaboration.

The Trentini showroom’s new home is a renovated 19th century building in central Riga. We chose to accent its history by painting the facade and authentic interior features white. The front of the showroom is designed to be adaptable and accommodate events such as product presentations, seminars and changing installations. Deeper within we used tinted MDF to build display rooms for housing product and design samples. To maximise on the available space, two of these rooms hover above the atrium. MDF is an efficient ready-to-use material which allows saving resources.

The Magnetic Latvia business information centre at Riga International Airport is somewhere to meet and discover the magnificence and potential of the country. A space to connect with potential business partners, organise seminars and presentations, learn about the services of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, take a break or work between connecting flights.

Playing upon the Latvian landscape and the richness of nature, the interior design and decorations are finished in wood which symbolises its significance both in the local environment and everyday life. Wood has become the ultimate backdrop for the exhibited local design products furniture, ceramics, lighting, glass, linen and leather goods, fashion accessories, bicycles and balance bikes. A screen at the back of the space plays videos revealing the tourism and business opportunities in Latvia, the local landscape, creativity and traditions.

The story of Latvia comes to light in an aesthetic, enigmatic and adaptable space.

Philosophers Residence

The land on which the residence is built has a rich history that is directly related to philosophy. Both buildings are named after famous German philosophers – J.G.Hamann and J.G.Herder – and not without reason. Both of these Renaissance philosophers have lived here with a few years’ difference at the end of 18th century.

The main element of the lobby is its library – a 12-metre-high bookshelf, accented by huge “book pages” which hide the countless bookshelves of the residents’ communal library. The room is furnished with a variety of lounge furniture to encourage its use as a reading space or area for holding brief meetings. The concierge’s counter is made of wood playing on the theme of bookcase design. Light coloured finishing gives a sense of endlessness to the already huge space and accentuates the bookshelf. The second floor of the shelf’s construction is made of glass so that the giant book’s opening does not steal the space effect. The view out towards the Philosophers’ Alley with its centuries-old maples opens through the glass walls, giving extra effect to the three-storied lobby space.

FBO business jet terminal in Riga, Latvia functions as both a VIP area and a facility for dispatchers. This was a challenging and prestigious project. The OPEN AD team was involved in decisions on every level.
The main prerequisites for the exclusive nature of the VIP hall, meeting rooms and the gallery were their size and the purity of the environment. Natural materials were used in the rooms and carpets are hand-woven. Brand-name furniture from companies such as Giorgetti was chosen intentionally due to its recognisability and outstanding quality.
In the dispatcher facility, priorities included acoustics, ergonomics and other functional aspects, as well as overall cosiness for workers who are there on a 24/7 basis.

A well thought-out open office layout focusing on the wishes and productivity of the employee. Workplaces are been placed near the windows along the exterior walls of the building, providing as much daylight as possible. The workspace area has been separated by white and designed in neutral shades, while the core of the building, where the common and public premises are found, is more saturated in colour and furnishings. These premises also receive the daylight coming in through the windows of workspaces, thus leaving no space of the office dark.

The workplaces are functional and ergonomic. The height of the tables can be adjusted, allowing to work also while standing; and chairs employ the principles of comfort and ergonomics. Much attention has been paid to acoustics. The walls of the public areas have been clad with acoustic panels, and sound absorbing felt has been used for the meeting rooms.

A proper microclimate has been maintained by placing Ficus trees and other larger indoor plants inside the interior. The design aesthetically reveals subtle details and ingenious solutions.

Small spaces require custom solutions. At this apartment in London the small space inspired the architect to design a number of one-of-a-kind furniture units. A bed effortlessly folds away and blends with the wall, transforming the bedroom into a workspace and vice versa, while a custom-made dressing table adds an air of modern elegance while serving a functional purpose. In this multifunctional cosmopolitan residence the taste and know-how of the architect is evident not only in the choice of high quality materials and sophisticated aesthetics, but also in the smallest details, such as the choice of paintings and home accessories.

Within the reconstruction project, three townhouse-type buildings are created. They are hidden behind an internal courtyard in Rga, thus creating an atmosphere that differs from the citys usual urban environment and architecture.  One of the flats is a loft-type area with exposed metal structures.  Cool concrete and brick finishing have been combined with linen, furnishings made of natural materials, and Dutch and Scandinavian accessories all of them coming together to create an industrial, but cosy and modern environment.

The interior design accents and emphasises the construction of the building in which the office is located.  The office has three levels, each of which has a separate function.  From the middle or zero level, there is a panoramic view of the upper and lower level.  There are dimensions that create the impression of streets and buildings.  The composition and functional plans are accented by black and white colours.  Details and furniture are made of white oiled veneer, thus making the room cosier and warmer

In this office the modern meets the classics visually, functionally and in the context of companys image.

The clients are collectors of art and antique furniture, though didnt want a completely classical, predictable law office.

The interior planning has been functionally divided into two types of zoning front office that includes client meeting zone, conference rooms and executive offices, and back office that hosts other divisions and groups of employees.

Unlikely for law offices the clients were ready for an openoffice planning. Though the number of employees for the existing space was rather high, making the classical office system impossible in terms of quadrature, daylight and air exchange.

Both parts of the office also differ visually, and their joining element is paintings that have been placed throughout the office. A red thread cuts through the interior, symbolising energy, dynamics and liveliness. Its evident in the red accents, protective decals of glass partition walls and openoffice zones lighting designs that have been ideated and manufactured in Latvia.

The manner of marrying the modern with the classics reveals at the entrance zone of the office. To optically broaden the space and highlight the thematic symbolism, a special photo shoot of Rundle Palace interiors have been carried out. The captured photographs have been edited into a single image, and by using a white colour print on black wall panels (differently from the usual black print on white), a visually classical entrance zone has been developed with a modern approach. Visitor reception desk has been made ultimately ascetic for the sake of contrast, visual neatness and clear perception of concept.

Interior of the front office features antique furniture from the collection of clients themselves that have been placed in conference rooms, combining them with ascetic, contemporary decoration in order to obtain lightness. The design of back office uncovers lightcoloured, contemporary furniture, some of it borrowed from the old office.

The keyword of design for office Greenhouse is greenery- principal wish of client was plenty of herbage. The specifics of work in this office gave a possibility to make open-space office, planning special cabinets only for few groups of employees. In open-space area we designed multifunctional piece of furniture in which is integrated working places, rest area (sofa), dining zone and big sized trees. Kitchen is made of 6mm thin metal sheet, integrating metal sink and pull-out rubbish bin. The rest of kitchen wall is greened by flowerpots which are put on warehouse wall- shelves, straightened on rails. Wall construction is left visible from side of open-space room, using plasterboard plates only from cabinet side, so form open-space we can see construction profiles. Walls are painted white and in some planes the brick is left in its natural look. In cabinets- walls which are with windows on open-space room, is used Timorous Beasties wallpaper London Toile, which are common to green concept and in which are portrayed witty scenes from London.

A flat near the seaside which the owner only uses during the summer.  The interior is bright, inconspicuous and well lit, with high-quality furniture and considered functionality.  Valuable materials have been used in a simple way and with successful combinations.  Wood panelling and matted natural stone contrast with handmade carpeting and linen textiles.  Particular attention has been focused on lighting elements.

Bright and shiny – two-storey apartment with wooden spiral staircase and the view! Behind the windows are all the roofs of Riga – feeling like in a book about Karlson who lived on the roof. ⠀
This ascetic apartment has given the opportunity to breathe – light and functional design makes you feel relaxed. No exaggeration, just an airy living environment. ⠀

Villa Hepburn is the most playful and mannered building in the Legend complex.  It conjures up the 1960s, with points and balls. The reception area resembles a huge pearl. The interior is dominated by white and nacre together with timber. Glass details and hidden lights create a gentle and slightly fragile feeling.

Villa Dietrich is characterised by femininity and a gentle and flowing sense.  The entrance hall has a seven-metre ceiling, with the interior dominated by a round white staircase.  The vertical sense and gracefulness are enhanced by enlarged decorative necklace that weaves from the fourth floor to the lobby.  There are also immense mirrors and original light objects, created by local designers

The interior of Villa Churchill is stricter and more homogeneous than is the case with Villa Dietrich. The basic material is stone which is powerful in essence. Its nature is emphasised by concrete and solid things such as two-metre cast iron door handles and details made of rare timbers.

Honouring the historical value of the space and surroundings, the architecture and interior reveals delicately preserved authentic details and materials bare brick and wood covered in grey. Wining section, coffee and tapas bar, as well as other zones of the restaurant are separated with furniture and curtains for a more secluded conversation. The self-sufficient, ascetic ambience serves as a backdrop for taste, occasion and personality.

Place Eleven is not just a regular office building. It is a sustainable architecture, it is smart.

Lobby is the essence of it- it is a place where people come and go every day, they meet, talk and make business happen here. It has inspired us and with a little help of something so natural as sunlight we have created a happening for Place Eleven inhabitants and guests.

It happens only one time (the right time) during the day.

We have set a large light laser that associates sunlight and through geometrically properly positioned mirrors light is directed to the target and flows through decorative wall of glass prisms, splitting white light into spectrum.

And that`s when IT happens.

Space for a woman who appreciates the importance of quality and details.  The dominant materials include textured and smooth wooden panels and stone.  The purity of line is ensured by ergonomic and installed furnishings, with storage areas hidden in the depths of the walls.  The bedroom boudoir is hidden from the eyes of uninvited guests by a secret door that is installed in the wood panelling.  Refined selection of the interior design objects.

Functional planning is made as stylization of union of inner room and outside- there are formed streets on which as seperated blocks are located houses with windows, facades, podiums, in floor recessed flowerbeds etc. For finishing and furniture is used simple materials- boards, lacquered MDF, white wall painting. Interior is created in topical recycling style- floor wall and secretary pannels are made from timber products remainders and no more usable household or office appliances. Lamps are made of high diameter pasterboard tubes which previously were used as rolls on which fabric and textiles is reeled on. Low budget project, worked with simple materials and developing trash style in interior projects.

PR Office is conceptual continuation for already made McCann Erickson- Riga and Inspired offices, which are located in the same building.
Functional planning is made as stylization of union of inner room and outside- there is formed courtyard in which the working places are located, and as separated block is located house with windows and facades, in which is meeting room and a room for media trainings/ studio.
The linear composition is followed by overhead lighting under which is planned working spaces and also the building, which is functionally inhabited from all sides- there is also integrated windowsill for reading magazines or brainstorming. Glass/ window wall near the distant facade is made transparent for possibility to see all the building, not just a part of it.
For finishing and furniture is used simple materials- boards, lacquered MDF, grey lacquered blastula, straw colour carpet and imitation grass, which is the symbol of stylization of courtyard and meadow.

Functional zoning, simple finishing, considered choice of materials and accentuated zones. Premises made in light colors, in project are used common materials, remnants of carpenter and building works in this way working with method of material recycling. Design objects and furniture, except bar chairs, are made in Latvia after sketches of architect Zane Tetere.

The restaurant is in a renovated wooden building that dates back to the early 20th century.  It is in Jrmala, which is Latvias summer capital, and it is by the Baltic Sea.  The interior design is based on floor ornaments that are appropriate for wooden architecture, with historically inspired wallpaper and Modernist furnishings.  This creates the feeling of opulent and high-quality leisure in the spa town.  Authentic wooden elements have been restored in the faade of the building and in its interior.

Concept was to make restaurant in theme about hospitals, because clients were 3 doctors and one of them was dreaming about special restaurant for a long time.
Basic aim was to make restaurant in evident hospital style. We wanted to make a feeling of hospital, and success was incredible- there were no indifferent persons. For sure, there were people who were overjoyed, and were persons which were quite shocked.
For furniture we used recycled soviet times hospital issues, which we restored and used for different functions. Walls were painted in white as in hospital, but we made a small thin red line in height 1.2m and it made delicacy. Also used white glossy 10x10cm wall tiles which strengthened feeling of doctors. For furniture used MDF, tiles and lot of metal. 
Spaces, zones, functions: bar zone- pharmacy, big dining table- operation table, made of steel and renewed big operation lamp, zone with red bath- sanatorium, zone near window- dentist cabinet, next zone- gynaecologist, zone on other side of red line in floor, with wall panels and tiled table- morgue, zone divided from morgue with bookshelf- academic cabinet for science learning. One of toilets- fully finished with mirrors, which made impressive optical effect.

Restaurant is made in simple, democratic and a bit ethnic style, drawing attention for planned function- gastro-pub, using existent advantages of room- brick walls and concrete floors-, and integrating wooden and wet-proof veneer objects. The compositional center of gastro pub is separating arch wall, from both sides of room finished with wooden boards in different angles. From the wall to all directions of room grows out free standing multifunctional bar, which also is finished with the same kind of boards which the central wall is finished. For surfaces is applied wet-proof veneer. There is a zig-zag style rack block growing from bar in the back part of room, which is massive and in full height- from floor till ceiling- it is made as bottle racks for bar exposition.
Ceiling is painted in dark grey-blue colour, which is fully mat, so it visually looks velvety deep. Brick walls are painted in light colour which is close to natural colour of yellow bricks.
Tables are made of wet-proof veneer and specially produced metal legs; at the tables there are fine wattled chairs and specially produced sofas. Lapms are self-made form wholesale sales sugar bags, on the walls are specially produced gobelins, which all together makes stylized symbols of latvian ethnography.

Apartment is located in renovated soviet ex-factory building. The interior is based on exposing existing concrete constructions in mix of romantic style in materials, finishing and furniture.
From the very first day the apartment is built, finished and furnished by the hands of owner Edijs. This interior is result of creative cooperation of two friends- Edijs and Zane. Premises attracted Edijs with possibility to make specific planning because of big height for ceiling- 4.5 meter, so with the possibility to make 1.5-storied flat.
In finishing is used simple materials- veneer, metal, concrete, plaster. Floor in level 1 is covered with lacquered oak planks, in entrance area- tiles. 2nd level floor is covered with lacquered veneer.
Details:  in all the apartment there are used sliding doors, made of OSB plates. Bath is old-timed cast-iron bath, painted in marmoleum technique by specialist Juris Markulis. The old mirror above the sinks was found in second-hand market for furniture from Holland. In apartment there are many renovated furniture pieces, which were found in artefacts markets and inherited- table, chest, buffet etc. Decorative plaster on bedrooms wall is masterpiece which is made by plasters and wall paintings specialist Juris Markulis. Sidetables near bed are made from blocks which usually are used in building constructions.
